The mermen or Waterspirits. On his return from the Liberation war, Nyika, a dedicated freedom fighter, finds that he gets a warm reception from his parents but a cold reception from the new realities of the country he helped liberate. The aspiring ‘warrior’, now turned civilian, finally ends up doing domestic work. The play is cast in an allegorical style, hence its title. |
